Hello
I am sure you will soon receive lots of support from people on here. I was diagnosed not too long back and have since had lumpectomy and am two thirds through my radiotherapy. The early days were awful, not knowing what to expect really, but I found this forum really helpful, hearing from other people who know exactly how you feel.
Anyway, good luck with the treatment.
xx

hi, welcome to the forum, there are lots of people on here in similar situations to yours and lots of people who can remembr when the were newly diagnosed, so ask away and someone will have an answer or a word of encouragement.

its such a big thing to take in and i am sure there must be things you have forgotten to ask the medical team, so fire away here, everybody is so supportive. Or if you suddenly get frightened, or cross or whatever have a good old rant, it does make you feel better to get it out.

Fingers crossed for your results, things will seem much better when they tell you your treatment plan and you get started on it. (so I am told)

Hi all,
Just had my biopsy results back and I have breast cancer… Having a lumpectomy to remove 12mm lump Frid ay 1st July and then start Radiotherapy straight after. On HRT and feel sick and worried… Sure I am not the only one. Reading through forums and posts, now I know there are lots of others at similar stages or have gone past this stage and are positive.

So sorry to hear new girls are joining the bcc forums, it is an aweful shock, you will get lots of support from this website and good advice/knowledge.

I had DCIS 6mm diagnosed a year ago, I too was on HRT but immediately came off of it as proved to be Oestrogen and Progesterone positive. I have had 2 lumpectomies, 15 rads and am just about to have first mammogram post op, it is a very emotional time but I have had such good advice and the support here is wonderful.

Accept all the support you get, try to remain calm, rest as much as you can after your treatment, put yourself first, eat well, think well, take each step as it comes, write down and ask lots of questions of your healthcare professionals. Anything you need to know post and someone with experience of exactly what you are going through, will post back. This is when I found out who my true friends were, this website has been a lifesaver.

Take care xxx

Thanks to Kika… already started this, think I may publish it when I feel better, try to turn this into a positive experience

Thanks Mummysboobs for the info… I have mixed feelings, I have 2 little ones (8 and 5 years) told them I have a spider growing in my boob so need it removed, thought this was best way to escibe this to them. I am also scared of spiders, my little girl said I will be OK, little boy said he is fed up of talking about boobs… made me laugh! Have to keep positive. Positive Mental Attitude…

Thanks curlylol.

Hi I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and have had MRI today ready for appointment with suegoens tomorrow. Please can someone give me an idea of how long I will be off work for after the op. Don’t know yet what the op will be. Thanks

Hi, I had to have a lumpectomy and node biopsy, the day surgery unit gave me a 2 week cert which I was grateful for, I’m guessing if you have a mastectomy it would be longer than that
Jane

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I had mx last November, and for me, the chemo and rads (which I have just finished) were very difficult,

I can honestly say, I wouldnt have been able to work at all during any of my treatment,

not everyone is the same though, it will depend on what op you have and obviously what other treatment you need,

some ladies on here have worked straight through their treatment,

I would listen to what your own body tells you, and take it from there,

keep us posted and all the very best Liz xxx

Hi All,
Just had WLE and LNB - 1st July. All Ok, waiting results.
I was given a 2 weeks doc note to stay off work, but said to see doctor before the return date to check if feeling ok to return.

Just a waiting game now for the results of the surgery. Fingers crossed

Hi Wendels rest up well & try not to do much if anything at all take any help offered. Yes the waiting is the worse concerntrate on getting over the surgery & building your strength up the 2 weeks soon fly by

Hugs
Mekala X

Hi Wendels (not sure what your “real” name is so sorry for being informal).

Glad the WLE went ok, you sound very calm and in control, very brave, make sure you take the 2 weeks off to rest and recover.
It will seem like ages but goes quickly, I hope you are getting lots of support and tlc, here’s keeping everything crossed for you.

On a positive note, I had the all clear last Wednesday, 2 WLE’s, 15 rads and 13 months later I am free of bc, feel a bit shell shocked still but yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Got my results within an hour of the mammogram (which I wasn’t expecting as I was there for cyst aspirations). The NHS is brilliant

Take good care of yourself
