Does anyone know about Breast Light which has been developed by an oncologist and is like a hand held torch which in a darkened room shows the inside of your breasts and any suspicious shadowing. It seems to be used with a gel a bit like an ultrasound. I’ve looked at their website, but just wondered if anyone had got one and how useful they are.
Hi Redders I have seen it advertised and I am interested in knowing more about it. Wonder if it would make me more paranoid than I already am.
I watched the video but don’t have one. It’s rather like shining a torch through your hand so it shows up blood vessels etc. Looks like a helpful device but it’s not the same as ultrasound in the way it works as in it’s not a replacement for scans etc but could help identfy things that need checking out. Promising I think.
I wanted to share with you my experiences of Breastlight. I am someone who really has neglected my breast examination routine. I am quite big busted and I did not really know what I was feeling. I tried Breastlight when someone who had one showed me it. I wasn’t entirely sure what I saw, so it prompted me to go to see my GP to find out about examining my breasts properly. As a result of using Breastlight, I am certainly now more breast aware. For that reason, I would recommend it. If it encourages people to check themselves out, it has to be a good thing.
hello to all the women who may read this, kinda new to forums, so here goes (wobble wobble!). I have had indirect experience with breast cancer, friends and family and I have recently been a guinea pig for a breastlight trial, via the WI. I practise self examination approx once a month and like many women I have lumpy breasts…and have the occasional moment of panic when i feel something a little unusual, after examinig my breasts with the breast light i felt a level of reassurance that is not always experienced with physical examination, this would NOT stop me from self examination though, it kinda just provides an eye on the inside, for want of a better expression! personally i think this device is a good thing, and seen as we are in the age of technology, gadgets and all that, i feel that it will encourage more and more younger women to be breast aware, education is everything and early detection important.
