Brexit concerns!!!

Hi

So I have just collected my latest presciption meds from my pharmacy.  I use an independant pharmacy in a village nearby.  I changed from my gp’s chemist because of long waiting times and it seemed really impersonal and they struggled to get my tablets, had to return for the second part of my script etc.

Anyway I found this lovely chemist who seem really helpful and concerned to obtain whichever brand of Anastrozole I would like to use.

All has been fine this last 6 months, only once they had to give me a different brand, Teva, which didn’t seem to suit me as I noticed more aches and pains in my feet and hands whilst taking them.

So currently I have been taking some manufactured by Consilient(? )health.  Anyway in I popped to pick them up, along with my calcium tabs and the pharmacist called me in.

He explained he had tried many distributors and could not now guarantee that I could have my chosen brand,he also went on to say that Brexit will have a massive impact on the import of medication as the prices will rise and our good old government will only want to pay for the cheapest!!!

So goodness knows what rubbish we will be saddled with come Brexit!!! Mind you it’s not happening yet is it!!!

And let’s not forget that the UK is losing the EU agency for regulating pharmaceuticals; it’s going (or may well have gone by now) to Amsterdam.

The NHS is reliant on skilled migrants as nurses and clinicians at all levels of expertise, and on international collaboration in research, together with financial assistance. This will all be severely affected. It is difficult to see how the NHS will survive.

As you say, it’s not happening yet.
