I finished chemo almost seven weeks ago but im very alarmed to find that instead of starting to regrow, my lashes and brows are disappearing even more.
Could anyone please give me their advice on how their brows and lashes reacted, when they went and when they returned. My hair has a small covering of regrowth but to be honest the lack of lashes and brows is annoying me more
Hi I just want to reassure you. I was the same as you more concerned about my lack of lashes and brows but my lashes if anything came back thicker - my brows however are not as noticable but I think this is more likely to be because they are a bit grey now than them not being there!Eyebrow pencil is now used to supplememnt them.
Be patient my hair took about a year to get any sort of stylable length…the eyelashes were a lot quicker though about 8 weeks.

Hi Ladies, I’m having the same problem. Finished chemo a few weeks ago and my lashes have got even worse. I thought it was just me. I didn’t lose my hair or brows, just the lashes, so there’s hope now that they will grow back fairly soon. Thanks for that.
Hope you’ve had a good weekend and enjoyed the weather. Take care, lotsa love, Dianne x x x
Yep same here. I finished chemo just under 3 weeks ago and my hair (what I have left) is still coming out, lashes are non existent and brows still coming out. But oddly my leg hairs are starting to grow…typical hey??!
I lost all my lashes and some of the brows - finished chemo in April, and they are only now just starting to grow back. The hair I lost (kept most with cold cap) is now 1" long, so lashes are definitely lagging behind.
I am 4 weeks post last chemo and my lashes and eyebrows have continued to disappear. I noticed last night that when I washed my head even less hair remained afterwards.
My other problem is a very sore bruised arm where the chemo was injected. That is also getting worse.
I had the same problem and my optician friend told me that eyelashes and eyebrows grow and fall out on an 8 week cycle. Normally of course they don’t all fall out and regrow at the same time so it takes a while for it to settle. Eventually they will go back to growing and falling out at different times so it won’t be so noticeable. I’m nearly a year from my last chemo and my eyelashes have setteld but the brows still get thin every 8 weeks or so. Like Holly, I’ve invested in a good quality eyebrow pencil.
I lost my eye lashes and half of one eyebrow! Boy didn’t I get some funny looks, especially as I didn’t lose the hair on my head!
At first I couldn’t work out why I looked so different, and then I realised it was my eyelashes. It is amazing how they can alter a face in such a way.
However, my eyelashes did grow back, even better and longer than before I lost them. My eyebrows grew back to but not as thick. I too use an eyebrow pencil - bought for me by my best friend - if i am going anywhere special.
