Bruise and lump by nipple

Hello
I have seen a bruise (pink/purple) area of my skin at the bottom of my nipple with a small lump. I’m concerned about it. Could anyone be able to advise if this is normal as I get older (46) and on pill.

Hello bonniesmom

Thank you for posting. It’s understandable that you are concerned.

You mention you have a bruised breast area with a small lump. Breast changes can happen for many reasons. They may be due injury, due to hormonal changes as part of your monthly cycle (if you are still having periods while on the pill) or due to benign conditions (not cancer). You’ll probably find your breasts change quite a bit throughout your life.

Our Touch, Look and Check(TLC) messaging may be helpful in checking for anything new or different.

It’s not clear whether you have bumped your breast recently. If these changes don’t settle, we would suggest you make an appointment with your GP to be assessed.

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions.
