About to start carboplatin (with gemcitabine) on Fri. Anyone got any tips? There hardly seems to be anyone on here with either or both of these drugs. I’d love to find a chemo buddy, or anyone with past experience. Thanks!

You kindly replied to my message, my first gem/Carbo treatment was 1st June. I felt good whilst on steroids for 1st 3 days then v nauseas, I was due to have just gem on 8th June but bloods not good enough. I had 2nd treatment with more steroids and felt much better. I also had the gcsf injections so bloods were good enough for day 8 gem only. 3rd treatment Friday 13th! Let me know if I can help in any way

Hi, Tatyana & Shere, I have had 3 cycles of gemcarbo, missed Day 8 on second cycle as bloods showed liver results were high. Experienced similar side effects of tiredness and nausea which seemed to kick in when steroids wore off. Did increase the days I had the steroids on second cycle but it only seemed to delay the start of the nausea. The nausea was a bit of a shock to the system as was on eribulin for 10 months prior to this with very little side effects, mainly tiredness. Unfortunately I found out today that it has not been working as scan showed some progression in liver and bones. I hope you both have better success with it xxx
