Buyer beware, Insure and Go travel insurance

Just a word of warning. I’m in the happy position of finishing all my treatment, clear MRI but mild lymphodema in my arm. My treat from OH a holiday in the sun. Where to go? The search for travel insurance began, I knew it would be expensive but wasn’t happy to travel without medical cover. After much internet searching and many phone calls Insure and Go came up with a good deal for the Caribbean or so I thought!! I purchased the insurance and booked the holiday happy with the assurance I was fully covered or so I thought! The policy and the documents arrived today. On checking the wording of the policy the cover was for Europe!!! To cut a long story short, the salesperson had inputted the incorrect data!! The actual price for the cover I thought I’d purchased was nearly double. They were unwilling to move on the price even though it was, as they’ve admitted their fault. Had I known the true cost I might have decided to stay in Europe. I’m now committed to the holiday so I’ve decided to cancel the policy with them and take my business elsewhere.

So what started out as as a special treat after BC has turned into a stressful time. So be cautious and double check any quotes you might be given. That’s a job for tomorrow. Might just have to treat myself to a glass of wine tonight to calm down.

Wemblo try euro tunnel insurance. I’ve got a worldwide annual policy that cost me £70. They cover the cancer and do not need any medical details. All they require is that you are not terminal and in the event of a claim your doctor will confirm you were fit to travel. You should have a cooling off period on your insurance so I would cancel it and ring around.

Hi  give    insurancewith    a go.  I found them best on price and you can do the whole medical stuff online.   and they asked sensible medical questions unlike other insurance companies.  They realise the difference between 'active"  treatment eg chemo etc   and ongoing preventative drugs like Letrozole, hormone treatment.  Good luck   btw   insurancewith was started by a lady with bc  who got fed up with the whole palava of getting travel ins.

Try eurotunnel. They insured me for USA last year and I have SBC . A lot of ladies on the SBC forum use them it’s about £70ish worldwide .

Just a quick post re travel insurance from eurotunnel.
They ask if you are expecting to need active treatment while away and whether you are terminal and ask if you are fit to travel (ie if GP would confirm this in event of a claim). All v quick over phone. I was quoted £17 for a week in Europe (I was pleasantly surprised) or £76ish for a year worldwide. Active sports etc would be more. V reasonable, sales assistant evidently trained re cancer etc told me she didn’t need that much info when I started talking about lymph nodes etc! Not looked at small print yet but quotes v good, particularly having heard others experiences both on this website and Moneybox Radio 4 about a month ago.
