Hi. I finished 9 cycles of Eribulin in November which seemed to slow down the progression in my liver in particular. My stomach however is still enormous I look about 8 months pregnant. My oncologist has therefore decided to switch drug to caelyx as it is back on the market after having supply issues. We are hoping that this will shrink my liver down. Does anyone have previous experience of caelyx? It’s a 1 dose every 4 weeks cycle. I’m on day 4 and have bombed out today. Di xx

I have just had my 7th cycle of Caelyx today and have so far found the side effects bearable. The hand/foot syndrome kicked in after the 3rd cycle and was quite painful for a week or so. It still flares up and it looks pretty horrible but it is no longer painful and for me that’s the main thing. To minimise side effects, my oncologist gives me a half dose (34mg) every 2 weeks rather than 68 mg every 4 weeks. He had just found it is tolerated better and has the same results so you could ask if that’s possible for you. In terms of results my scans showed great results especially the liver mets. As for CA-125 that has come down from 3600 to 1800 today. So whilst still high - has halved - which is awesome. All the best with everything - I’m sure you will find Caelyx a breeze .
