Hello I just wanted to see if anyone has stomach issues with taking adcal - d3 with Letrozole. I have been trying to take these after a lumpectomy 2 years ago - but have been to and from the docs trying different brands but all seem to give me constipation then the other way. I have just been tested and my vit d levels are low now so docs have just given me vit d only to try. But now same thing. I drink a lot of milk and calcium foods so have just changed my diet to up the vit d food. Has anyone else had similar please. Thanks
On the calcium , it’s in a lot of foods , not just dairy .
Green leafy veg have calcium in them . I think MacMillan have a leaflet about bone health and recommended foods.
Just thinking that veg might help with constipation . Also, lots of water helps . And movement . Sorry if you do all this already !
I don’t use Adcal as it has a lot of fillers . I buy vitamin D and K2 . Plus a pure calcium tablet .
Unfortunately, all the prescribed ones are the cheapest and are full of rubbish .
Thanks so much for the reply Kif. I was thinking exactly what you have put. I was thinking of trying my own brand but wanted to see if others do. I do excercise a lot and do yoga. I thought at first it was as I already have the rec calcium with mainly milk but will look into adding more veg. Thanks again for replying.
Hi I’ve been on D3 Calichew which is similar as I was told that the D3 is there to help the calcium be absorbed in your body, so I have a monthly high dose vitamin D ampules from the GP.
I eat a very balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables ( I try to get 30 different ones in each week). I was also told to wear High SPF all year around as I was high risk of skin cancer so need the Vitamin D.
Hi naughty-boob
Thanks for the reply. I did think this too about having cal and vit d and wondered why I was just on the vi t d now. Great to hear what others do so thanks again - think I need more veg.
Hi I also stopped the Adcal chewable tablets in favour of a D3 with K2 mix which I have more confidence in and I was told helps ensure the calcium in my diet goes into my bones. Best wishes
Hi
i’m unable to take Adcal due to the fruit contents being unspecific, but on checking it cred they are very very poor. My calcium and bone scan were excellent and remain so based on the supplements i take, butg i buy my own. Hellenia Uk, sell: Calcium Magnesium which is the correct ratio of 2:1… 2 Calcium to 1 Magnesium, the latter enables the calcium to be used in the body. i also get their MSM Combo - Chrondroitin, Glucosamine and MSM, ; and D3 with a high 5000iu. All these work miles better than anything available on the NHS. i’m currently 2 years through Letrozole. Not continued with Zolendric due to pending surgery on my shoulder. Also on a 2 years course of Verzenios Abemaciclib, which you may be offered beyond Radiotherapy. THis fortunately does balance out the Letrozole side effects, but i do get by monthly issues with bowels, even with my mediterranean diet.
Soya milk is far better than Dairy, the only dairy i have is natural yoghurt.
i just get used to factoring in the loose bowels twice a month, and ensure i have an emergency pack to hand, but i have found by taking my medication as follows… i can actually ensure my opening happens only when at home. please don’t be concerned about the early hours i get up, the important factor is finding the hours between the treatments.
i rise 3am and take my Antihistamine; 4am take the Verzenios; 9 am take the Letrozole; 4pm take the verzenios. thus with letrozole taken between 9 and 10 am [6 - 7 hours] after breakfast i can guarantee my bowels open when i get home. aafter a normal working day. Hope this helps. Moonsox xxx
