Hi all,
I found a lump in my breast so I went to the doctors who then referred me. At the hospital I was given an ultrasound and assured the 2 lumps they found were cysts but around my lymph node by my armpit the found a suspicious area so arranged for a FNA there n then was then told to go back in 4 weeks for results. Yesterday I received a letter telling me to go back on Friday for either another FNA or core biopsy so now it’s got me worried and its all I can think about, my boyfriend is worried too and I can’t even ring the hospital to try and ease my mind as its bank holiday weekend. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I’m usually one that doesn’t worry until there’s something to actually worry about but I can’t get this off my mind. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you x
Hi, sorry you are having such a rough time, and especially over holiday weekend when you can’t get answers easily. I’m not sure whether you have had the results of the original FNA or not - but could it be that those results are inconclusive (which has happened to me in the past) and they want you to have core biopsy because it can be more precise in your case? Its just a suggestion, but if you can’t get to speak to someone at your hospital, perhaps a call to the BCC nurses might give you some reassurance that this is just another element of a thorough investigation of your ‘suspicious area’ ? And at this stage thats all it is - investigation. Hope you do have some fun over the holiday weekend. xxxxxx
Hi Nats1984
I’m sorry to read that you’re in this situation of the Bank Holiday when it’s difficult to contact anyone to help, you’ve come to the right place here as the users of this site have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them and will, I am sure, offer you some much needed support at this time.
As has beeen suggested, you might find it helpful to give our helpline team a ring and have a chat with one of the staff, they’re here to support you. Unfortunately due to today being Bank Holiday the lines are closed but are open again at 9am tomorrow morning. Calls are free, 0808 800 6000. Give them a call.
Take care,

Thank you Shellseeker. I’ve not had the results of the first FNA back, I was supposed to go back on the 16th September for those but then received this letter. If they hadn’t got enough cells etc i really wish they would say or at least give more information on the letter. Thank you for your reply, I’m sure it’s just a case of them being thorough its just worrying me. I am going to call tomorrow and get some more information hopefully
