Can anyone remember this song?

The lyrics go something like:
I won’t be here to see flowers grow; I wont be here to see the summer sun …

It may be from as long ago as the 70’s as my friend remembers his mom crying when it was played on the news as it was written by a guy who had cancer.

He now really wants to know what the song was and can it or the lyrics be found anywhere.

I hope that someone around here may be able to help him; it would mean a lot.
Thanks

my hubby say’s it was Bobby Goldsbourough(mite be spelt wrong)

I don’t remember this one, only the one by Terry Jacks "seasons in the sun"which goes something like
we hsd joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun ,but the joy and the fun like the seasons have all gone
good by my friend it’s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky…
and “think of me and i’ll be there”
think this was a seventies song as well

My friend Krysta Youngs, a singer/songwriter, just wrote and recorded a song to help her mom through her recent diagnosis with breast cancer. You can download it for free. Hope it helps.
