Think you should check with the chemo nurse or your GP. I got a rare skin disease when on FEC (which included epirubicin) called erysipilis, and my useless GP prescribed an antihistamine (piriton) which I took, but this was not what I needed. I eventually ended up in the A&E overnight as the rash spread from my nose to my eyes, which became closed and I had a fever of 103. They sorted it out eventually, with an antibiotic. As it is a Friday night, and bank holiday to boot, an insect bite is not the same as erysipilis, so I would take piriton or something similar to ease the bite. Don’t quote me though, as I am no doctor. Why don’t you ring the NHS Direct service, or your GP’s on-call service? As you are on chemo, someone should be available to help you.

Good luck Lynne,
Liz.

Hello Lynne

I was given Piriton at the hospital while I was on Taxotere as I had an allergic reaction to Taxotere - so anti histamines must be OK with that sort of chemo - although I don’t know about EC.

Good luck
