Can radiotherapy affect existing moles?

Hi all,

I completed radiotherapy to my right breast and clavicle area (SCF) at the end of March this year. I had 15 sessions and 5 boosts. I was just checking my skin and noticed a mole is looking a bit weird. Can radiotherapy affect existing moles?

Hi Crumbled, I had chemo and radiotheraphy and not sure which it was that affected my moles. Many became lighter in colour and now after 3 years have nearly disappeared!!! However other moles have appeared instead. They all appear to be ok. Sounds strange but true. They say chemo and radiotheraphy affect people differently. However if you are worried about any mole do see your GP and get it checked out for peace of mind. Wishing you well. Take care.
