Hi,
I haven’t had surgery,as I’ve got secondaries so they put me straight on Chemo.I have got DVT which made my arm swell up but I’m just wondering if the swollen arm is actually lymphoedema from all my lymph glands being affected.

Hi Alli
Sorry, don’t know the answer to that, but because lymphoedema is such a “tricky” condition, I think it would be good for you to show your arm to your onc team, Mac nurse, hospice doc/nurse or GP as soon as possible, to ensure that you get the best information, care & support.

Hi Alli,
I had chemo first and after first one went neutropenic and was hospitalised for a few days. I had iv antibiotics and after that had swelling in arm, it got bigger and bigger onc said just chemo reaction no worrries for few months till I saw different onc in Feb before my ops and he thought DVT concern as I was soon to have surgery, so I went for scan, came back clear, then had another one as vein man thought was a prob cos of swelling so I had a lymphositagram, (not sure of spelling) anyway it checks deep lymph system all ok so they decided it is lympoedema caused by chemo or IVand I have seen lymphoedema nurse and got sleeve and exercises and is now much better. The worry is it is my good left arm and all now all nodes on the right have been removed I hope I will not be prone to it as already had a prob.
Think this is quite rare though
