Can you help us with live chat?

Hi all

I wonder if you can help us?

Over the past few weeks the numbers of people attending our Tuesday evening live chat sessions for people with a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer have gone down.

The sessions allow people to swap information and experience in real time for an hour (Tuesday 8.30 to 9.30 in the evening).

Can you let us know

Is the session at a good time - would you be more likely to attend if it was moved?

Have you heard of live chat before?

Is it the sort of service which interests you?

If you have any feedback to give on live chat can you make a post in this thread. Hopefully this will help us develop this service to suit your needs.

Best wishes

Ann

I am usually half asleep in the evenings - perhaps a daytime chat would be useful not sure what others feel. I have heard of the chat sessions never actually participated ,but at the moment am concentrating on my huge setback and maybe as this is a secondary breast cancer site it may be that we all have so many issues we hardly know where to begin?

There are a few reasons namely it’s holiday time for many people and there is always a downturn of general posting over summer. I also know that many people are going through a hard time at the moment and live chat isn’t always the place they turn to for support. Lastly I personally don’t like the layout of the new forums and find it very off putting and even a little confusing for someone who sees herself as quite computer saffy.

I used Live Chat a couple of times when it first started (was afternoons then) but was also fortunate to make contacts through the old style contact buttons and would turn to friends off forum for support now.
I’m glad the new pm facility has been introduced…it’s not the same as the old buttons but better than no facility at all.
Just in case anyone remembers me this is my last posting…this is the 2nd new look BCC forums since I’ve been using the board and while it’s all very new and strange it seems a good time to have a complete BCC board break…(I’m feeling very well)…Belinda…x

I have used, and enjoyed, the live chat sessions in the past. I know I have stopped contributing recently - mainly because one of the old users has died and I’ve found it hard to log on knowing she will not be there. Also, it is a busy time of year (I am currently eating my dinner, finishing a magazine layout and trying to pack to go away tomorrow - oh and write this at the same time). I will be back to live chat, but not immediately - I hope to be out enjoying the summer with my children.

To all those who I have spoken with during Live Chat, I hope you are all thriving and enjoying life. Cathie - maybe catch up with you at hospital soon?

To BCC - I think the new forums are an improvement over the old and though it is not perfect, I appreciate the effort you have gone to on our behalf.

Best wishes to everyone,

Jenny

i too use the live chat sessions but, although I don’t watch a great deal of television, there have been occasions when the time of the chat has coincided with a programme that I wanted to see (eg Andrew Marr’s History of Britain). Perhaps a change of time to early afternoon might be an idea for the winter months?
