Cannot sleep since been on letrozole

Since I have been on letrozole which is only 7 weeks I’m struggling to sleep some Nights I cannot sleep at all no matter how tired I am my bcn is putting it down to anxiety but I don’t feel this is the reason as I do feel relaxed ready to drop off then zing!! I’m awake again my GP gave me some sleeping pills but said not to use for more than 2or3 nights or they will stop working ! Is his a common problem or just me ?

I have been on Letrozole 4 1/2 years now, not found sleeplessness a problem with Letrozole, I have had bouts of not being able to sleep but been caused by other things going on. Hopefully once out get used to it you will be able to sleep better, it has been a very successful drug for me keeping me stable during this time. Good luck and hope things settle for you xx

Hello Desi…I have been on Letrozole for about 14 months now. I retired just before I was diagnosed but used to be a shift worker so never been a good sleeper. I occasionally used sleeping tablets in the past but told myself I wouldn’t use them after retirement. I decided that if I couldn’t sleep it wouldn’t matter so much because I didn’t have to go to work in the morning. Thought I would just read more and watch things on my Ipad etc…
Then came my diagnosis…closely followed by Secondary diagnosis…like you I go to bed feeling tired and drowsy and then ‘ping’ I am wide awake and can’t go off. I try to read etc. because if I don’t then my mind wanders off into ‘what if’ and my imagination runs away with me.
The GP reluctantly gave me sleeping tablets again…a months supply which i have had since November and still about half left so I do eke them out and use them sparingly.
Letrozole is holding the cancer and my tumour markers have fallen a lot over the last year…and also over the last few weeks I am finding that I am sleeping better…or should I say not having so many sleepless nights…
I don’t know if you work or perhaps have children to care for, which obviously would make a difference but for me - since letrozole is working it’s magic. - i am able to put up with sleepless nights. As i have said they are not as frequent now so if it was the Letrozole then 'yes, in my case anyway, it does get better…

I too have Been On letrozole for 5 plus years. And the sleepless nights are have are getting more and frequent. Must be on this at least 3 more years Dr says. I 've tried music , soothing lotions ,reading, boring news stories. Help any suggestions, any ideas?
