Cant feel the 1cm lump my doctor felt

Has anyone not actually been able to feel the lump the doctor felt and still got a diagnosis? Iv tried to feel for it several times and cant feel a lump at all. I have my 2ww appointment next Tuesday so im sure if its there they will find it. Was just curious if others have been in same situation. I went to the doctors with a 3cm lump underneath my breast on my rib cage, thats when the doctor found the breast lump.

Thank you in advance for any replies x

Hi Kellymarie,

I went to my GP with a persistently itchy LEFT nipple. She examined me and found no lumps, but sent me for a mammogram to be certain. The consultant examined me and found no lumps. The mammogram showed a 2cm lump in my RIGHT breast! They did an ultrasound for biopsy and a week later I was told I had a breast cancer. I think lumps are cunning little critters, good at hiding! xxx

Hello kellymarie,

Thanks for your post asking if it’s possible GP’s find lumps that you’re not able to feel.

GP’s are experienced at examining patients and it’s not unusual for them to identify breast lumps and changes that you cannot feel. It’s important to remember that most breast lumps or changes are not due to breast cancer.

Breast changes can happen for many reasons. They may be due injury, due to hormonal changes as part of your monthly cycle (if you are still having periods) or due to benign conditions (not cancer).

As Alwaysachoice_1 says, it’s good to know that your GP has referred you to the breast clinic next week to be fully assessed.
