Good morning all! Has anyone undergoing chemotherapy been advised to permanently and fairly radically change their diet? NO red meat, NO dairy products, NO shellfish, only boiled fish…This advice was given to my sister during her first chemo session yesterday in Portugal and I don’t think I’ve ever read anything about such major changes in diet being medically advised. Anyone been given similar advice? Any feedback on how you managed the changes? Thank you all. Dx
I think because your sister is in Portugal they have different views on lifestyle to supplement chemo treatments as I had a friend in Spain having chemo and she was given much the same advice . To be honest taste buds change so much during chemo - think you just have to eat what you fancy and can tolerate to get through it. Some prefer spicy foods and but I preferred ice lollies and fruit but it was Summer and so they went down a treat !!
Sorry not much help.

Hi Debbie… Wow that is a change and a half!?!
I don’t think I could cope with that in top of everything else!?
I was told continue with a healthy balanced diet, try and do gentle exercise, walking. And to have what I fancy to combat bad tastes, tastebuds changing and cravings. Just like being pregnant wall over again some days!!!
Yes ive out on a few pounds, but I’m so inactive compared to my usual lifestyle before all this happened! But I’ll deal with that when I’m done with treatment.
I may mention to my Macmillan team when I meet with them on Monday course on living with C. I’ll let you know if they agree xxx Tina
