ChatGPT - is it really that good?

Hello all

I am pro internet, I have found a lot of extra and helpful information about my diagnosis that would have gone unknown. But I am also wary about false or misleading information that is also out there. Particularly those that claim to offer a cure or solution at a cost. I try to be selective were I read information, and try filtering out the less useful content. I also acknowledge that the internet is not the best tool/source for everyone, for these very reasons.

There are more posts about ChatGPT and I use it. But it concerns me, people may believe this “artificial intelligence” is 100% reliable. It should be noted that the information retrieved is sourced from the same websites as just using Google. In essence ChatGPT collects information from these sources very quickly and puts it together in a different format, which may be easier to read. While it is very clever, it does not always give you a true and accurate result, since it scans the bad websites as well as the good websites.

I was checking a calculation on a complex maths formula in ChatGPT. The first answer was “x”. I asked Chat to recheck the calculation. The second answer was “y”. In the space of two minutes, two different responses. Had that been about my health, I may well have gone away with the wrong answer.

I make this post, just to highlight how all content (from Chat, Google or Forums for that matter) should be used carefully and the importance of validating information from other resources and your medical team before making important treatment choices.

Take care all x

ChatGPT can be super helpful for quick explanations or breaking things down in a simpler way, but I also double-check stuff-especially when it’s about health. I usually use it like a starting point, not a final answer.
