Chemo and hair loss

Hi all. I am new to the forum. I recently was diagnosed with hers2. I have had one lot of 3 chemo drugs epirubicin and cyclphosphamide. I was well until 4 days later when I got a water I faction and a blockage in my bowel. I was quit sick.

3 weeks on and having my next chemo tomorrow I have found that large clumps of my hair has fallen out. I find this most distressing. I have googled all sorts or shampoos and my friends have too. I have been using Biotin B7 shampoo and Co diviner but it has not helped. I even wore a cold cap for my first Chemo. Can anyone recommend anything to slow down the hair loss. I have done everything thenursetold me to do. Not used heat on my hair, soft brush, only wash hair twice a week. I now have abald patches my crown. Can anyone help.

I’m so sorry. Sometimes cold capping just doesn’t work well. All is not lost yet though. You may stop shedding very soon. Or you may not. The point is that there is nothing you can do about it. Your hair will do what it will do. I also cold capped but lost about 90% of my hair. I had many bald patches but retained enough in the back so that if I wore a hat I could pass normally. I didn’t like wearing wigs. At any rate, my hair started growing back a tiny amount even before my last chemo treatment. About six weeks or so afterwards I could rock a pixie. Even if cold capping doesn’t save your hair enough for you to have a style during chemo, it does preserve the follicles enough so that your hair comes back quick and strong, and thick. So it’s worth it just for that.
