Chemo and other medication

In a weeks time I am due to see the Consultant re starting chemotherapy.

At the moment I have an infection in the wound site (I had a lumpectomy and node removal. I am taking ab’s. I also contract anaemia when I left hospital

I aam just wondering whether chemo is going to affect any other meds I am on. There is a list :slight_smile:

Blood thinners
High BP
Diabetes (Metformin)+ Glimepiride
Iron tablets
Depression
Amitryptylene (for pain)
Codeine
AB’s

I really need my painkillers yet I seem to think I read somewhere you can’t take them with chemo?.

I expect the Consultant will advise me but it’s just a case of forewarned is forearmed.

Maybe have a chat with your BCN before your appt with the oncologist. I always take a pro biotic, multi vitamin and glucosomene and have been told not to take the glucosamine as that stops the chemo from working so well and folic acid mades the side effects worse. So for even the health supplements have to be checked!Good luck!
