Yes I have mine at home - number 4 tomorrow. I like it as I can play relaxation CDs etc and I don’t have to worry about waiting around or travelling to and from the oncology centre.

All the best on Thursday

Hi Anne and Mel

Wish I could have my treatment at home, not been offered it and don’t think it is an option. Must be so nice to be able to relax at home and have it. Must make a little bit more doable in the comfort of your house. Not sure what my 3 year old would make of it, she loves watching me have blood tests, and wants one herself (sure that will change, esp. as she is due her MMR booster anytime, that will be fun).

Anyway, take care all, and good luck on Thursday Mel.

Anne, sounds like you are quite a good way through your treatment, what one are you on. I am FEC x 3 and taxotere x 3. Second one tomorrow. Long way to go.

Hi Dawn

I am having 6 FEC so will be pleased tomorrow to be 2/3 way through. But it has ben a rough ride. I had a PICC line put in for the 3rd one after awful problems with my veins. The line caused a blood clot so had to have a central line put in today. Hopefully this will be better!

Good luck for tomorrow

Anne

Hi
I am also having my chemo at home, 2nd FEC next tuesday. Hair has started shedding yesterday!!! It is not a nice experience.
It is nice having chemo at home, but I do feel a bit isolated. It is good to have this forum to make you realise you are not alone.

Hi all
What a luxury having it at home - mind you I’d have to tidy the house first!
I have a round trip of 100 miles for mine and when I come home I just want to curl up in my bed and hide.

wow how nice to have it at home

I dont but wish I could.

Hi guys

Thought I would let you know how im getting on with chemo & the homecare nurses at home.

Well last wednesday a nurse turned up to take my bloods (at home) my daughter stayed in her bedroom (7yrs) & refused to come out where as my son (9yres) was amazed with what was going on. The nurse was fantastic she gave me a run down of what they will do and what I should expect. I got a phone call on the evening to tell me that my blood results where border line on the white blood cells therefore I would not be having chemo the next day (thursday) I was gutted totally gutted I cried for hours and snapped at everyone. Later that evening the same nurse phoned to see if I was ok and we had a general chat to put my mind at rest. THe next day the lead nurse phoned to also see if I was ok !

It is now Monday 3rd Sept and the Nurse (vampire as Ive nicknamed her) will be out on Wednesday to take more bloods fingers XXXX. Then If alll goes well I will get to have my first chemo at home Thurs 4th…

The Staffordshire Homecare Nurses have been amazing so far, very caring and very helpful. I could never have afforded this if it was private. THank God it was offered to me through thr NHS… It does not hurt to ask if your Hospital offers this service. The Nurses that I see cover a wide area!!!

I hope all is well with everyone and hope all are doing well with very few side affects

HUGS TO ALL

Wishing you soooo much luck for Wednesday this week and will be hoping and praying that your bloods are OK and can have your second chemo session on Thursday. Hopefully it will be all fine. Can’t use you as a reminder now either, as you were 1 day behind me, so helped me to remember.

Hope you are OK though and had a good weekend. Did you get up to anything exciting. Just been out today with 3 yr old and 9 month old to “stay and play” - new indoor thing, with my friends and their children, so was oK. They all liked my wig and said looked really nice, but I am still quite conscious about it. Getting there though. Not brave enough to go without anything indoors or outdoors, think hubby is bit upset that won’t sit watching telly without my little pink hat on.

Must be soooo nice having treatment at home (well as nice as it is), would love that, then least could do around Jack’s sleep and not have to worry about getting him and Sophie sorted out. Don’t think it is an option round here though.

Anyway, take care. Lovely to hear you are ok and ready and fighting for Wednesday. GOOD LUCK.

Hi Mel

I didnt have chemo at home but i did used to have my herceptin at home. I am also in Staffordshire so you are probably having your treatment through healthcare at home?? My nurse that came covered a wide area too… you may have the same one…its a great service that they offer isn’t it?

I used to sit and chat loads and watch philip and fern and became very friendly with my nurse… infact my nurse still keeps in touch with me…

Dont get too worried about having your chemo delayed through low bloods… happened to me loads of times… they have to make sure its safe to give you chemo… if it becomes a regular occurence like it did with me - they may give you GSCF injections to help your bloods recover quicker although you may have to ask for them, as its a case of them not offering it unless you ask…

hope you get your chemo… i know how disapointing it is when they say no as you just want it out of the way… i’m sure your bloods will be ok… it usually does recover if they leave you an extra couple of days to a week…

Take care and good luck
