Hello i am new to this section, got my treatment plan - i will be having chemo before surgery. Is there anyone on here who has had chemo before surgery? i am a little anxious about it, don’t have date yet and i have got to have a clip fitted first. Any help or advice who be gratefully recieved.
Hello and welcome. So sorry you find yourself here, but the good news is that you now have us to help you on your journey. I have found this site a life saver.
It sounds like you are HER2+, which means you usually have neo adjunctive chemo. I was diagnosed with DCIS HER2+ E+ P- last September and finished my chemo, 7 cycles last month. I had my lumpectomy last week and so far, doing well. After I get the all clear in about 2 weeks I will move on to radiotherapy and I will also have 17 Herceptin infusions (5 so far) followed by 10 years of letrazole.
Chemo is hard but doable, the monthly threads on here are fantastic, you can connect with others who are going though the same thing at the same time, so you can share your experiences and at time humour!
Its an awful shock isn’t it, and the worse bit is before you have your treatment plan. So grit you teeth and pop on those big girl pants, you can do this girl. Remember you have us lot holding your hand and are with you every step of this nightmare.

Welcome to the forum, this place has been part of my life, since my diagnosis last May.
I had neo adjuvant Chemo, I had a large tumour and some lymph node involvement.
By the time I had surgery, my lymph nodes had shrunk significantly.
I had clean margins post surgery and the surgeon got all of the gremlin out. So I’m cancer free.
15 cycles of Radiotherapy followed, I finished in March, I’m now back to work. Part time.
Take one day at a time, I initially wanted to speed through the treatments, decided there was no way, that was going to help.
