Chemo cycle 5

Hi All,

I had my 5th chemo cycle on Monday, and I wondered if anyone else experienced the worse symptoms to date at this stage? Extreme tiredness and nausea. The last 4, I have had symptoms but nothing to this scale as of yet, not sure if it’s just my body thinking ‘this again’. I have my last session in a few weeks then opting for double mastectomy with reconstruction surgery due to having triple positive and chek2 gene.

Sending love to everyone x

Hi I found the 5th chemo cycle worse than the previous ones. I think it is just the buildup of chemicals in the body. At least it is near the end and was definitely doable for me.

Hey @Lizaki, thanks so much for getting back to me. I think you’re right, it’s just shocked me how I was feeling so bright after 4th and feeling so rocky on this one. My body feels exhausted. Hope you’re doing okay? X

@bambi241 I found the same thing. One chemo nurse described it like this - imagine you are a jug of water. Each time you have chemotherapy a little of your energy reserves are left in the jug, so on each subsequent treatment there’s slightly less ‘space’ for recovery possible. By the time you get to the 5th and 6th treatments the jug is almost full so the amount of energy you can put in to bounce back is limited.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Good luck with your last chemo. It’s a great feeling when the time you’d usually have chemo comes around again and you dont have to go!!

I am doing great thanks. Ten years post treatment, but it is something you never forget. I only stay on the forum to try and help those who are still on the journey with my experience. The forum was so good for me so feel I’d like to give something back.

Hi @pat thanks so much for sharing this, you’re exactly right. I really appreciate the message and can’t wait for this to be over. I have surgery next. Hope you’re doing okay xx

@Lizaki thats amazing and definitely! :two_hearts:

I’m on day 4 of chemo 5, and I’m finding it so hard, compared to the others.

The main issue is the complete exhaustion, but not being able to get a good night’s sleep.

I’ll be so glad when I’ve had number 6 - though I guess I’ll feel even worse with that one.
