I have grade 3 HR cancer HER2 negative. A 3 cm lump. I’ve had three rounds of EC. One more to go then 12 pacitaxels.
I’m just terrified that it’s not working. I read about people saying their lump just melted away. Well I can still feel mine and sometimes I think it’s changing in shape but I’m not sure and it’s definitely still there and doesn’t feel dramatically smaller.
Can anyone offer some words of comfort or reassurance?
I can’t comment personally as I had surgery first then chemo/herceptin. I have read many posts on the chemo starters thread that tumours have shrunk successfully but I have also read posts that they haven’t shrunken as much as expected. On the HER2+ and need some buddies there are several people moved onto Kadcyla from Herceptin/Phesgo as there was residual cancer.
You are still early in your treatment with 12 Paclitaxel to go, so there is still time for changes.
I hope some others can post some positive stories.
It may be helpful to call the BCN nurses to talk this through on 0808 800 6000 Mon-Fri 9-4 or Sat 9-1. Or you could call your breast nurse or clinical oncology nurse.
Hi Hannah. I just finished my last chemo. Had 4 EC and 4 paclitaxel that was rought. Mine is positive for both hormones, but is her2 negative. I was lucky enought to notices my lump straight away and it was 7cm in diameter in places. Last time i had MRI mind chemo it shrank but still was very noticeable. Even now, before my last chemo I had ultrasouns and doctor said its still there but good news its less dence. So thats what im concentrating on. Just because we can still feel it, does not mean its not working. We must think positively and help out bodies to fight this shit take care of yourself, you dping great already.
