I am confident there will be another combination that I can have though.
Hope you are well and have a nice weekend x

Hi everyone,I saw my sergeon yesterday he filled me in on what’s going to be happening! 6 sessions of chemo over 18weeks,Then lumpectomy and lymph node removal,Then Radiotherapy, then a year of injections 1 a month followed by 10years on tablets? This sound normal? I’m also worrying now that it could of spread knowing my lymph node is affected, surely they should be giving me more tests or scans to see? All I’m having now before I see oncologist is Heart scan as I’m HER2 positive and a clip inserted to my breast as I’m having chemo before surgery ( so lump might shrink ) so please help if you can thanks Sam xxx

Hi Sam
That does sound like a good treatment plan.
All the hospitals work very differently. Personally I had staging scans to check for spread before I was told by my oncologist what my treatment would be.

The chemo will deal with any stray cells that may have escaped the clutches of your lymph nodes.
Any questions ask on here or your bcn. There is no question that is silly. Sometimes we just need someone else to tell us things.
I am glad you have your plan now.
Good luck with your heart scan and hopefully you will be starting your treatment soon.

Thank you very much blueash. I feel more empowered now I have options. I am very grateful to you for pointing me in the right direction x

Hi Sam,

You say “lymph node” so I’m assuming it’s just the one. If that’s the case then I wouldn’t worry too much. I believe that the NICE guidelines for staging scans are three nodes or more. I only had one affected and was never offered any scans. I’m two years on from diagnosis now and doing well.

Ruth xx

Well done Ruth, yes I had a mammogram and ultrasound and there was found a 3cm lump in my right breast and 1 swollen lymph node underarm so needle biopsy was taken underarm and 2x Core biopsys from breast went for results 1st September when I was diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer,Er and HER2 positive! But I’m seeing oncologist 26th September to discuss chemo treatment!! Xx

Also I was told Stage 1 Grade 3 ( aggressive) xx

I wasn’t told anymore were affected but how would they no? Would ultrasound pick this up? X

Sam, your team must have a pretty good idea if they have told you your stage. I am grade 3 IDC, I also had one suspicious lymph node biopsied and it came back positive. As I said different hospitals have different ways and your team will be doing what’s right for you.
Call your breast nurse though as she is there to help with your questions. My staging scans were all done within a few days before seeing my oncologist for the first time- I still don’t know what stage I am!

No nurses available till Monday I’ve tried, can’t stop worrying,as I was with my breast nurse and sergeon yesterday and forgot to ask,and I was just told I will have heart scan before I see oncologist due to being HER2 positive nothing else was said how do they no my Stage then?? Confused!

Xx

Hi Sam amd Happy. Sam i am like you, grade 2 ductal, er+ and her2. My treatment plan is like yours. My surgeon told me 6 chemo but onc said 7. 3 Fec then 4 tax with herceptin and permuzetab and then herceptin every 3 weeks for a year and tablets for however l9ng they want me to take them. I had scans and there is no spread but my BCN told me it wont be staged til after treatment and surgery when she said, they hope to find no cancer in my breast. I am having a masectomy as i have had radiotherapy before so cant have it again.Sam try not to worry (easier said than done i know) as they will have your plan but do write down all the questions that you want answers to. I have asked lots!!

Thanks Ali49 I’ll ring my breast nurse Monday,I’m more of a panic because I’ve had no scans ect! And also how my breast nurse can say Stage 1 when I haven’t had surgery yet, surely they can just say that? Also Grade 3 x

Can’t just say that? X

Sam on thursfay i called my BCN and we jad a chat because i was having a big wobble re chemo. She said to come in and see her if i needed to. So 9n friday when i was at the hospital having my heart scan i called to the breast clinic and she had time to see me. I voiced my concerns and she listened and answeted all of my questions. She also got someone to call me who is further along the road to me but was like me at the beginning. You need to call on Monday and i am sure you will get some clarity. Where are you sam?

Blackburn,I asked a lot of questions yesterday when I was there, felt fine thought of another question to ask and started getting worried again xx
