Well I start FEc tomorrow and am not looking forward to it (understatement). I don’t know what I’m expecting to happen but I’ve got that “really hope to make it home” feeling like I had pre surgery. Of course I will… right?
So anyway fancy a nice movie and a glass of wine with OH this evening but wondering if that’s a good idea or not. So did any of you have a glass the night before chemo, if you did, did you pay for it
I’m certainly doing a nice smelly bath (with my new fast drying very short hair)
I had a glass of wine every night! The nurses/docs said it was fine, and it certainly made me feel better. I was on epirubicin and then CMF, your drugs may be different?
As long as you keep driniking plenty of fluids thats the main thing.
Did anybody see that latest research (yes theres always another one!!!) saying dont take vitamin supplements etc as it may reduce effectiveness of chemo? My cousin gave mea tub of super vits and antioxidants when I started chemo - too late now!
love Zoe x
Hiya
i was really nervous and the nurse that manages the chemo ward said was fine to have a glass night before but just make sure you drink lots of water or other fluids (not wine) before and after, during night and morning, apparently as well as doing it after haivng lots of fluid inside you helps lots.
Enjoy your glass Im off for one cos a word of warning, week after doesnt taste nice at all, 2nd week it aint to bad with food and will let you know about week 3
Good luck for tomorrow
xx
p.s. im the biggest wuss out and afterwards I went into town shopping with parents, felt light headed but that was it. Im on FEC, had first one 12 days ago and albeit not nice wasnt as bad as anticipated
xx
Taking supplements can be a bad move whilst on chemo. Chemo is trying to kill off cells and the supplements are often trying to maintain them, so they can work against each other. Check with your onc before you take anything.
Just so you all know. I did have the glass of wine and an extra little shot of wine. felt guilty about it so drank 2 litres of water within 2 hours afterwards too.
Chemo has been fine and I wasn’t stressed going for it either so did make the right decision.
