Chemo How long is usual for the start of chemo after a post op check up?

I know it varies place to place, I just wanted a roughtimate!

Thank you x

Hi BabyBoo Mine started 4 weeks after op.

Anita

Hi Baby boo

I think there is a 6 week cut off point.

Chemo Hi babyboo,

I had my mastectomy on Mar 29th, saw the oncologist on Apr 30th and then started chemo on May 14th (Oh, I remember it well!). The oncologist appt couldn’t really be sooner as they wanted to make sure I was well healed from the op before I could start it. I had a couple of rogue stitches and one tiny part of my wound has taken a lifetime to heal! When I went for my 1st chemo session it was touch and go whether they would give me it as I still wasn’t totally healed but thankfully the doc’s were happy enough.

Also, had to have a CT scan pre-chemo and was selected for the TACT2 trial so that took a bit of organising too. All told though I started 2 weeks after seeing the oncologist and for my area that is pretty good.

Hope your post-op check goes well. Let us know how you get on,

Take care,

Kelly

Nice to have some idea of when it could be… actually I am not that nervous about starting chemo…I think the word is scarier than the treatment…or could I be wrong!

had op in nov and started chemo in the january
hope it goes well for you
