Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy

My Mums just had her results from MX and five lymph nodes were cancerous so now she needs chemo and rads. So devastated. This has just gone from bad to worse :frowning: she has to have a ct scan to make sure it hasn’t spread. What if it has? I’m really scared :frowning:

Bumblegirl - it was probably the grade of the cancer which determined whether she needs chemo and rads as well as the lymph nodes. Was she not told to expect this before getting the Mx?  Chemo is no joke, but it is honestly not nearly as bad you expect it to be, all the anti nausea drugs which they give really do help - I wasn’t sick once. The rads are really do-able too, and a walk in the park after Chemo. I managed to work through nearly all my chemo sessions and every one of my Rads. They are just trying to make sure that everything is mopped up (stray cells etc). A CT scan is normal and really just a precaution. I know it is hard but try not to worry too much. Get your mum to join one of the Monthly chemo threads so she can go through with others at the same time - they really are a godsend. In the meantime have a look at the general chemo section of the forum to get some advice. Nearly everyone on here has been through both of these treatments, so you will get good support. Hope your mum is recovering ok from her recent op.

Big hug - be strong

Thank you. That means a lot. My Mums cancer was picked up on a routine mammogram back in November. That helps knowing others have had positive nodes and are ok. If I’m feeling like this then I can’t imagine how my Mum and other people fighting this horrible illness are feeling. Xxx

Hi Debs. Thank you very much. Im so pleased to hear your scan was clear. I bet those 2 weeks were awful, such a long time to wait xxx
