Somewhere I read about taking Glucosamine with something else for joint pain - I can’t find the thread now. Is it Chondrontin or MSM -anyone know please?
Hi,
My GP recommended Glucosamine with Chrodrontin. I’m not sure if it does anything for pain but I believe it helps with flexibility.
Best wishes,
AlexG
Hello
I remember it and it wasnt long ago but i cant find it either. I think it said both to be honest. It definitely said MSM. I am actually taking glucosamine with chondroitin but only because i bought a large supply a while ago and will introduce msm when it runs out.
I think it might be in the middle of an unconnected thread.

Hi both
It was glucosamine chondroitin MSM and it definately worked for me!
Good luck x
There was quite a bit about this in the joint & arimidex thread:

Hi
Thanks for the info. I have started glucosamine with chondroitin and msm now (in last couple of weeks) I have very stiff joints which my onc thinks is a result of oestrogen withdrawal and not tamoxofen as i had thought.
I can live with it but will be good if the supplements help in anyway.
All the best
Linda
Hi
I took glucosamine for years and found it invaluable, but one of the chemo nurses said they didn`t know how it would interact with chemo so I came off it.
I can really feel the difference now my joints are so stiff, does anyone know if you can take it with chemo? I forget to ask my Onc. everytime I go!
Thanks,
Janx
Toronto, yes I asked my oncologist about this and she said that some women do get benefits from it, however she did not know too much about the chondroitin.
I also take 1 tablet of a mix of Glucosamine 750mg, chondroitin 600mg, calcium 50mg.
It took longer to get into my system (only taking 1, cos the dose is 2) but I do find I get benefit from it.

Thanks Angela,
I think I will give it a go again,
Take care,

Hi
I have been taking high dose glucosamine (and cod liver oil) for many years for arthritis and I continued to take it all through my chemo - there really is no conflict: the nurse was wrong. .
However - having said that, I am not really convinced that it actually does any good!
How bad would I be without it- who knows? Certainly my arthritis is worse since I started on Arimidex 10 months ago- but maybe it would have got worse anyway as I have had knee and shoulder probs for over 10 years & arthritis is a progressive disease.
I also take Vit D and have been prescribed Voltarol- but I still have joint pain, especially when I am in bed.
I walk a lot and swim twice a week and I think that probably helps more than any of the pills - but I still keep taking them!
I guess we just have to take what we think will help us- half the benefit is placebo I’m sure!
