Chording following lymph node surgery

Hello all, I had lymph node surgery last week for removal from one side and samples from the other side. I think I’m experiencing cording on the side that I had full removal. I have been doing my exercises three times a day but does anyone have any other advice to help with the pain and not make it become permanent? I am seeing the breast nurses tomorrow but since yesterday it’s almost unbearable!

Hi
I had the same issue with cording, started to travel down arm, to elbow, into wrist etc, gp didnt know what it was so, sent me a link for a self referral to physiotherapist nearby. (NHS) She was brilliant, took 6 sessions plus was also given a list of exercises to do at home. That was just over 2 years ago, no problems since. Worth an enquiry. Best wishes

Hello
Hopefully your breast care nurse could refer you to a physiotherapist? Mine at my local hospital have been very good and I’ve seen ones who have specialised in breast surgery care

Your BCN will be able to refer you to a specialist physio who specialises in cording.
I am myself just going through this . I am 9 weeks post surgery and the physio was very helpful at my first appointment last week. Xx

Just the same as you. The chording was sooo painful and such a strange feeling like tendons shrinking inside your arm and they feel hard. You feel like nothing will get rid of it, but once I was referred to a specialist physio it did not take long for it to go. If you do the exercises they really will work, honestly.

Your BCN can refer and get things made better for you.
