Clinic testing and no indication given

Hello,

I have had my first appt today after my 2ww referral. For context, about 20 years ago in my late teens I had a fibroadenoma removed, and throughout was reassured it was nothing to worry about. They biopsied it after removal and had no further follow ups once post op checks were done. Over the years I’ve had 2 further 2ww referrals, and another this time round. My previous 2 I was told I just have lumpy tissue in one appt and another was a cyst. Both diagnosed by touch/ultrasound on the day and I was sent home. I’m now 39. Today I had the consultant feel the lump, sent me to ultrasound and said he’d ask radio if they’d like to mammogram due to my age. I have implants so not easy to feel/see. The lump is pretty small and doesn’t move. I had the mammogram first, then ultrasound and she biopsied it. She also took pics of my armpit. I had explained to each person I’d previously had a fibro and had assumed I’d be told by at least one person if felt like that- I haven’t been especially worried by it due to my previous experiences. No one gave me any indication today that it was either cancerous or benign. After my biopsy I was sent to the waiting room to speak to the consultant again. He then came in there (it was only me waiting) to get a drink and just smiled and said he’d see me in 2 weeks with my results. I literally have no idea if it appears benign and no one is concerned, or if it might actually be more worrisome now and they’re being polite until they know! I’m quite a practical person so I would rather have an indication, even if it turns out to be wrong, than being totally in the dark. I’ve read a few forum topics where people were told it looked cancerous- so I guess I’m wondering if anyone else has been given no indication and it was, or if they’ve had a similar experience to me and it wasn’t? I know no one can tell me until I get the results, but just any indication at all would be good!

Hi I think if they had seen something on the US or mammogram they would have told you so hopefully that is positive? I waited 2 weeks for biopsy results so I think that is normal.

The waiting is awful, hang in there and I hope you get a positive outcome

Not knowing is so difficult! I wasn’t told anything at the initial clinic other than they’d found something (not what I had gone about!). I think I knew because of the way the medical staff spoke to me and how long I was there, but they didn’t say anything about what it could potentially be. My hospital was like that all the way through, they categorically refused to tell me anything until things were confirmed which was frustrating at the time, but with hindsight I see why they did.

Best of luck with your results. x

Dear Sk85,

Thinking of you, the waiting game is endless, anxiety takes such a toll on us.
Makes some notes, before your next appointment as we all forget the most important questions.

They hold meeting every week to discuss each patient case, so I expect this is what is happening with you. Take one day at a time at the moment all very easy for me to say when you you just want the answers you need.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome, with health and happiness ahead. I wish you well.

Let us know how you are getting on

With the biggest hugs Tili :rainbow::pray::rainbow:
