I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy 4 weeks ago. It’s triple negative with one node negative and one node positive. I knew I’d need chemo and radiotherapy afterwards. However, we saw consultant today and offered me 2 clinical trials as well. An immunology one and a dna targeted one if applicable. These would extend my chemo time from 18-20 weeks to a year in total. I would need the immunology one every week for a further 35 weeks! Then they both might be placebos!! I feel so unequipped to make a decision. It’s no use reading the bumph… how can I make that decision? The immunology one seemed to have horrendous side effects too. Anyone got any experience of these?
Rockingrobin1 sorry you find yourself on here please do ring the number on here and speak to a nurse they will be able to discuss with you any questions you have also do speak to your team, it’s a lot of decisions you are having to make and it’s always hard to know what to do, but do taken on board what your team says. The choices and decisions you make are yours, we understand it’s hard to know what to do we’ve all been there. For me personally, I left everything in the hands of my team and followed their treatment plan, the time I had to make a decision was after 2nd t chemo when I had a reaction, so for my 6th chemo I had to decide either to have another fec or an abraxane. I had another fec, it was my decision and choice and it was one that I could live with, I knew I’d given everything my best shot. I’m sure others will pop on and share and try and help you too we are here Shi xx
My ‘team’ didn’t recommend as it were they were just offered. So it wasn’t a case of taking xy or z which would’ve made it easier if they just said ‘you’re having this.’
