Hello All,

Hope you are all staying strong.

I dont’ know yet what my treatment plan is going to be, however I have started looking at post surgery bras from Marks and Spencers. If I do need to have chemo I found some tops from George Asda with zips on the arms and zip to open up the top without taking the top off.I know there are more expensive online shops any advice. Thank you

The Asda tops for chemo are fantastic. No need to spend more than that on those for chemo. On bra’s my suggestion would be to wait until after any op to buy some as you may find scars in places that rub otherwise. Wish you all the best with everything xx

Hello,

Thank you I didn’t want to spend to much, I thought you had to have a bra after the surgery?

I had a single mastectomy & wasn’t told to wear one until a few weeks later (remaining breast is G cup!) so I think advice may vary surgeon by surgeon x

I bought post surgery bras from M+S before my lumpectomy . Initially I thought they would be a waste of money as I wore cheap crop tops with old secret support vests over for the first few days but once I started moving about more I was glad that I had them as the support helped with discomfort . The hook up one was good at first as I walked about with them all done up then opened a couple at the top and bottom when sitting . Some BCNs do give out bras so it’s worth checking . I also joined a support group and a fitter from Anita measured me and gave me a free one but that was sometimes later .

I’ve stayed in the post - op bras because I find them more comfy and just got some nice ones from Nicola Jane which I consider to be an investment . I have a broad back and a small cup so I’m limited as to where I can buy bras - always have been and Primark , George etc wouldn’t fit me . I wouldn’t advise spending too much at first just find something that’s comfy but supportive and well fitting . Some people have worn ordinary sports bras as well. Xx

@lil56 I have one of those sweatshirts. They are very handy but if you have a PICC line, take care not to lean on the sleeve as the zip will poke it and send you into orbit.

I haven’t thought to try it, but I wonder if it is also easy to put on and off post mastectomy. I had mine 2 weeks ago so might give it a try as it will be handy for a forthcoming seaside trip. x
