Co payments..report in Observer..BCC statement?

There is an article in today’s Observer about co payments which includes a paragraph saying: “one group of terminally il women consulted by the charity Breast Cancer Care concluded that relaxing the rules was morally wrong because of the impact on those too poor to afford top-up tretaments, although they admitted they would have remortgaged their homes to buy themselves more time if they could.”

I am puzzled…is this really what someone from BCC has said on behalf of some of us or is it a media misrpresentation? Certainly this view does not I think accurately reflect the views expresed on co payments through these forums. Personally I do agree that relaxing the rules is potentially morally wrong though reluctantly in the present climate think it should be done (my view is though probably a minority among those here) Personally I would never, no not in a thousand years pay to top up on expensive drugs nor mortgage my house to do so, though perhaps some would???

I know one paragraph cannot summarise adequately the many views we have on co payments but this paragrapgh doesn’t seem to represent anyone???

I have recollection of some poll about it here on the BCC website, but you’ll have to excuse my humidity and steroid riddled brain as I can’t remember where I saw it now.

Still I’m used to seeing higher standards of journalism than that in the Observer myself. Sad.
