Coincidence?

Hello,
before Christmas I got referred to a breast clinic due to a lump in my armpit/the side of my breast. It turned out to be a lymphnode Which has since got bigger.
The breast it was found in heads always had a shy nipple ever since I was younger except now in the last few months it appears to be more inverted and also has completely inverted on my a few times. This has been rather painful. I’m also getting acheing in my breast, underneath and especially at night times when I lie down.

is it common for a retracted nipple to start fully inverting? And is this all a coincidence? I just don’t want to seem like I am making a mountain out of a mole hill and being a drama queen.
Thank you for your help x
Oh and I am 22

Hi sarabern, did they not biopsy the lymphnode or tell you what was causing it to be enlarged. Infections can cause lymphnodes to become enlarged. The symptoms you have in your breast could be due to some kind of infection. I would go back to your GP, you need to get it sorted.
All the best Melxx

Hi Sarahbern

My experience is slightly different to yours in that I had other symptom (no lump) but had a referral and the mammogram showed up 2 white spots which consultant said were lymph nodes (actually in breast?) but that she thought I’d be recalled, she did an U/S and lookong at image repeated that I’d have a recall
Anyway no recall and when I phoned for results as I hadn’t heard anything was told it was clear, I asked about white spots and she read out that there were 2 tiny benign lumps (no biopsy?) Letter followed 1 sentence - basically all clear no follow up, tho cons had said she wanted to see me in 3 months whatever?

Since then I have had various other sympoms, all in same breast, and been referred once more and had 1 screening mammo and all is clear.

I am very pleased (obviously) but the mixed messages haven’t left me with peace of mind and my advice would be go to GP and explain your concerns and try to get it sorted, especially as you seem to be getting more symptoms.
Hopefully it will all be OK but it would be best for you to be able to put this to bed once and for all

Best Wishes

Sandra
