Cold capping after shaving

Hi
I’ve shaved my head today as it was falling out in big amounts, even though I’d cold capped.
Should I continue cold capping without any hair? I’ve heard it csn stimulate regrowth? Is there any on this as if it’s minimal then I think I won’t continue cold capping. Thank you.

Hi I’m sure the nurses will come back to you soon.

But it may be worth contacting Paxman the company that predominantly make the cold cap machine used in the U.K. I know they do say it can helps with regrowth including speed and quality.

Hi stafford22

Thank you for posting.

Many people will lose either some or all of their hair as a result of treatment for breast cancer. People who have chemotherapy will often experience hair loss and like you will decide to shave it off their hair when it starts to fall out. Most people who have hair loss from chemotherapy treatment notice their hair starts to grow back once treatment is completed but the rate of growth will vary from person to person.

However, there is some evidence that for people who have scalp cooling, their hair grows back faster and stronger in the 12 weeks after treatment finishes. This is why some people may decide to continue with scalp cooling even if they lose their hair.

If you are using the Paxman system you may want to consider the suggestion from @naughty_boob

to contact them directly for their evidence about hair regrowth.

There are number of organisations, such as Cancer Hair Care, my new hair and Look Good Feel Better who offer specific support to women experiencing hair loss from cancer treatment. Your breast care nurse or treatment team may also be able to signpost you to a local hair loss service in your area.

You may also find it helpful to post on the chemotherapy monthly threads part of the forum to connect with others who may be considering what to about cold capping if they lose their hair.
