I’m due to have surgery on Thursday for a mastectomy but have come down with a lousy cold, streaming nose, throbbing head. I have made an appointment to see doc today to see if he can give me anything. Rang BCN who said just to go along on Thursday and see anetheatist (spelling) and see what they say on the day. I am so syced up for this op I cant bare the thought of going on Thursday and it not happening. Has anyone else been in this situation that can give advice please.
Just wanted to wish you well for Thursday, I am not a medical person but I am sure that they will assess you on Thursday and if they felt that you were unfit for surgery they would have to postpone the op. It is a horrible place you are in right now, I had my mastectomy in December and on the one hand it could not come soon enough to get the cancer cut out of me and on the other hand I was already grieving for and desperate not to lose my breast, also was worried sick about the anaesthetic. Please be assured Karen, if you are not fit they will not put you in any danger. I hope that you are much recovered from your lousy cold and that all goes according to plan which would be the best outcome for you. Please let us know how you get on, take care and it really is not as bad as you imagine it is right now. We are here for you thru it all.

Got antibiotics and a steroid nasal spray from docs, so hopefully will be fighting fit by Thursday. Just got the kids off to school so think I will go and have another hour in bed.
Glad you saw your GP, hope the cold is gone soon, wishing you all the best for Thursday and for your recovery from the op. Will watch out for your return once you get back home.
I hope the antibiotics have done their work and all goes well for you. To not go ahead would be dire - we all build ourselves up for the actual date. I had my mastectomy on 14 January - and my goodness, did I sych myself up for that or what!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments they mean so much from you ladies because you know exactly where I am coming from. I will be back next week to update you.
