Coming off Zoladex, staying on Tamoxifen

My two years on Zoladex is nearly up and I’m wondering how I will feel when I’m only on Tamoxifen. My oncologist says that I’ll feel better but that there might be a ‘hormonal couple of months’ while my body adjusts to having oestrogen again which hasn’t left me much wiser! I’d really like to know how people felt when they came off Zoladex. All advice gratefully received!

Hi Poddle
Just seen your post and thought I’d answer your question. I felt so much better after I came off Zoladex, my hot flushes just about stopped and my aches definitely disappeared or got better, especially 1st thing in the morning. Good Luck and hope you feel the same.

Thank you very much for that heartening post! Did you start to feel better quite soon afterwards (ie, a month after the injection)? I’m primarily looking forward to not having hot flushes at night - I’d give pretty much anything to sleep through the night.

Hello, I have been taking tamoxifen since last oct after my Mx. Immediate side effect is numerous hot flashes. it varies some days only 6 - 7 attacks and on bad days I would have 20 - 25 attacks, there are only very few days where I didnt have hot flashes. My consultant said that according to some research those women who suffers more from hot flashes are benefiting more from the tamoxifen. I also have sleep problems, probably due to the hot flashes. I also experience stomach ache like a period cramp. But I know I must go on. This is the price you pay if you dont want the cancer to return.
