I hope someone can help as right now I feel back at square one like the time the GP first told me the lump in my breast was not nothing to worry about.
I had a CT scan 3 weeks ago and yesterday received the results. The scan was organised as I have lost 15% body weight since my breast cancer diagnosis June 2021, not long after my 45th birthday.
The results show a likely 5cm complex ovarian cyst & 3cm uterine fibroid.
I know it’s a small chance but I can’t help thinking I have ovarian cancer, given the weight loss. Although the blood marker CA 125 result was normal.
I have been referred to gynaecology and looking at the date on the letter my breast consultant had my results two weeks ago & emailed his gynae oncologist colleague. But I have not received an appointment yet, so this suggests the situation isn’t urgent like a two week rule?
Don’t know what to think anymore. I have read tamoxifen can cause ovarian cysts (complex ones??) & fibroids. I also thought it was causing lack of appetite/weight loss.
If anyone else has experienced anything like this, I would be very grateful to hear from you! I am in need of reassurance yet again. Was hoping to have moved on by now!
Xx
Hi , I also had 5cm complex ovarian cyst and fibroids they think caused by tamoxifen . I had the cyst removed and it was not cancerous . Fingers crossed your changes are nothing to worry about
this is my first time writing on any forum despite reading posts on here & cancer research whilst going through breast cancer in March/April this year (2022) Surgery, Radiotherapy, no chemo.
After a visit to the GP yesterday - I feel like you a bit like you Annie . Thinking this can’t be happening again! So soon. Pls god no.
I’ve developed a hard mass lower right abdomen saw GP yesterday. It’s distended. Bloods done straight away & urgent referral for scan etc. Tbh - The young GP frightened me with her very startled panicked reaction & asking me why I’d waited so long to come in. (I only finished radiotherapy in August so my focus was on that rather than my abdomen)
I can’t help thinking it might have something to do with the tamoxifen, which I only started taking in July/August.
Constipation, gas, distended stomach right side etc Hence why I didn’t immediately go to the GP.
Has anyone else had a sizeable lump/hard mass as a result of tamoxifen? Or could it be a hernia or something else due to surgery? Exercising after surgery?
GP said nothing after feeling the lump to reassure me - only made the urgent referral.
Whilst waiting for scan referral? Should I get in touch with BC nurse or oncologist or are they completely done with me now and it would be considered unrelated? I’m very worried and sobbed yesterday whereas with my BC I held it together.
Any similar post surgery/tamoxifen related positive stories greatly received and advice on contacting BC nurse oncologist etc
