Hi all
I’m about to start docetaxel and carboplatin and was looking at helping with neuropathy and wearing compression gloves and socks.. does anyone have any types or brands that they used successfully to prevent the neuropathy? I’ve looked at suzipads but they look like a lot of effort to keep them cold enough through 2 hours of infusions..plus they are so expensive if you have to buy additional gel packs to go for the whole time.
I’ve looked at compression gloves and socks but not sure if you need full finger or not and whether you can wear compression stockings during chemo on your calves too or just socks..
advice very welcome as starting on Monday
Thanks

Hi @loopylea ,
I am half way through treatment. My oncologist recommended compression therapy and I also bought Suzzipads.
I only used the Suzzipads for my first infusion - it was such a palaver. Once the ice pads are on you are stuck unable to read, scroll or go to the loo.
My oncologist recommended I look up the Elegant Clinical Trials re; compression therapy. Now I wear compression socks 20-30mmhg and two surgical gloves per hand, one size too small.
I have had no symptoms of neuropathy and at the same time can pop to the toilet, read my Kindle and nibble on a sarnie
.
Hope this helps

Thanks @puglover56 , can I ask did you have fingerless and stockings or socks for your feet and where did you get them from please?
Hi
,
Nope they are full surgical gloves and knee-high compression socks.
I got both from Amazon. Links below, just check sizes.

Thanks for sharing this information. I hadn’t heard much about compression therapy before, so it’s really helpful to read about real experiences and practical tips that worked during treatment. The idea of using compression gloves and socks instead of full icing sounds much more manageable and comfortable.
It’s also great that you’ve been able to avoid neuropathy symptoms so far. Wishing you both the very best with the rest of your treatments and recovery.
