Bit of an odd one. Had surgery November 2023 and finished Radio in June 2024. Went into tamoxifen but it caused a few issues. While this was going on my thyroid had crashed and my oncologist took me off Tamoxifen as he wanted me to treat this first. That’s now done, however I have very worryingly just had a period after 8 months which means oestrogen now back in body which is alarming. However my oncologist (who is one of leading ones in UK) has seemed unconcerned about me restarting tamoxifen as in September my bloods showed I was in the menopause. Now I have had a period he is seeing me immediately presumably to restart the endocrine treatment
I find this all very baffling and worried I will now deficit have a recurrence although to be fair I have no medical training and he does! Anyone in similar situ?

Hi newbie1, sorry to read you are worried. You are correct - it is all baffling. I had lumpectomy in April 2023, started tamoxifen in May 2023 just before 5 sessions of radiotherapy. I continued to have fairly irregular periods. I had one in June this year after about 6 months. Had another in November. These were both very heavy but only lasted a few days.
I also worry about estrogen still being produced. I should perhaps discuss with somebody. I am 54 so it may be age related.
Others might be able to give their thoughs. Hope everything settles down for you x
Hi, can I ask if you have an overactive or underactive thyroid gland . I’m on 150mgs of Abemaciclib and letrozole and last week I was diagnosed ( following routine bloods by my Gp) with hyperthyroidism. I have been seeing a pharmacist oncologist. He hasn’t reduced my dose of Abemaciclib or Letrozole and I was commenced on Carbimazole 20mgs following a phone call from my Gp. My liver results abnormal ALT55 and GGT 183 but Dr Google informs me these can go up with an overactive thyroid and ALT can increase on Abemaciclib. I have a liver scan booked for 10th December.
I have been feeling rubbish lately but all symptoms were put down to Abemaciclib. I have yet to hear from endocrinologist.
Sorry to hijack this thread but I’m not confident I am being managed correctly.
