Confused after Ultrasound

Have I got breast cancer? Appointments and waiting for test results

F/25/No known history of BC.

I have not been diagnosed with breast cancer i found a lump and i went in to my primary who sent me for a ultrasound. the ultrasound came back BIRADS 1 but also said this

“No sonographic abnormality corresponding to the patients area of palpable concern within the right breast. A clinically suspicious palpable abnormality should not delay biopsy or surgical consultation even in light of benign or negative imaging findings.”

I don’t fully understand what this means? could she not find the lump? i can feel it. she told me it looked like normal breast tissue. my primary called me today and wanted to do a in office exam on the lump and possibly send me to a different breast center. i’m confused by this as i thought i was in the clear:(
i was finally feeling some relief and now it’s all hitting me again. i’m scared and confused :frowning:

@yecats You are very welcome here where you will be given support. It will be a worrying time for you, but my understanding of what the sonographer said is that the breast tissue look normal but that any lump felt should be investigated to make sure. Perhaps the lump on the ultrasound looked like normal breast tissue. I want to commend you for checking your breasts and getting the lump investigated. It is an anxious time waiting for results, but I wish you all the best for a positive outcome. @mell.5 thank you :pink_heart: i appreciate your kind words and i’m hoping everything else comes back okay. BIRADS means Breast Imaging Reporting and Data Systems. BIRADS 1 means nothing looked suspicious which is why i’m confused on why my dr wants me to go in for further appointments on it. just feeling very anxious! hopefully everything turns out okay.

@mell.5 thank you i will update when i can! appointment is in nov! i appreciate the kind words and im feeling a bit more calm about it now :slight_smile: still worried but hoping for the best!
