Hi,
Last week I had mammogram, scan and biopsy as I have a lump and dimpling, I will get results on 1st July when I will be seen by a surgeon, I was told at the appointment that there was an area causing concern but that it was quite small and had been caught early, I was then told about surgery, radiotherapy and tablets. I was also seen by a breast care nurse who also spoke about treatment.
Is it possible for them to tell it’s cancer before the biopsy results, if not then why tell me about surgery etc, not sure what to think at the moment trying not to worry.
Hi Mary they have a very good idea of what they are looking at ,but they never get it 100% right,I have spoken to quite a few ladies who were told same as you but it turned out not to be cancer.I was told by radiographer that he wasn’t worried by what he saw but my biopsy showed it was cancer .Hope you get good news ,but if not caught early this is very treatable .Jill.
Hard not to go over and over what was said ,horrible having such a scary thing hanging over you .2 weeks can seem like an eternity. In some ways it is easier when you know what are dealing with and can get on with it,or breath a big sigh of relief, the anxious waiting is the pits.
Sorry it was not better news Mary.Yes it’s common to have MRI with lobular as it doesn’t show up well on mammogram and they need to advise you on the best surgery (lumpectomy/mastectomy) option and they want to get it all in one go.There are lots of threads in the just diagnosed section if you want to join us there for support/advice .
