hi are you taking tamoxifen??as i have headaches and feel sick all the time,so do other ladies on here…sarah

Hi. No im double negative so no more treatment x

Hi Rozita,

If you had your op 2 years ago in December you should be having an appointment with your Consultant soon. If you are still having headaches then you should report it to the Consultant.

I cannot see how it would be related to the Lymphoedema but stranger things have happened.

As Sarah says, any medication you may be taking now could account for the headaches.

Have you thought of telephoning the Breast Care Nurses and asking their advice.

Hope your problem soon clears.

Only see consultant once a year in January n he’s left so sumone new great not really much follow up guess I’m on my own. Just cut myself on my hand on bad side. Guess I’m sorry for myself xx

HI Rozita

sorry to hear about the headaches. I too suffer or did suffer very badly from those so I can appreciate how worrying it is. There are couple of things it could be such as tamoxifen (if you’re taking it), hormonal changes.

Mine seem to be strongly related to problems in my neck, shoulder and back all of which got much, much worse following surgery and treatment.

I seem to recall you had some shoulder problems too or am I wrong?
The thing is the muscles in the back are all connected up so if you’re shoulder muscles tighten, it affects your neck which in turn can lead to really bad headaches. The fact they are starting in the back of the neck could indicate something similar - it’s exactly how mine start.

I’ve been having physio at the hospital which comprises of joint mobilisation in the neck/spine and acupuncture on the muscles. It has quite honestly been miraculous. My headaches reduced almost immediately and my neck movement has increased no end. I still have shoulder pain but that’s hard to treat and its due to the surgery. I could only have 6 NHS treatments but I will continue privately even though I’m very short of money because trying to live a normal life with thumping headaches is impossible.

The physio have told me that what I’ve had is very common in women including those who haven’t had breast cancer and they treat it a lot.

Options then - you could ring your Onc’s secretary and explain you’re getting a lot of headaches and would like to see him/her. You could have a chat with the physio working on your lymphodema.
You could try having a private physio appointment or a massage to see if that helps and if they can advise if you have a problem.
You could try to get NHS physio but I had to wait ages and you might like to start something sooner.

take care, elinda x

Hi rozita

Im so glad I read your post regarding the headaches. I have finished my radiotherapy treatment about 3 months ago now and I have headaches too. My neck aches and my shoulder too. I never had this before or even straight after surgery so can they be related to the neck/shoulder thing? Im getting fed up with it now, I have aches in my arm on/off and also in the muscle just at the back of my arm near the armpit where I think, the radiotherapy was aimed at. I think the headaches are maybe attributed to the neck/shoulder pain/ache caused by tension - could be wrong though, but trying not to think about it. x

Hi thanks for your comments been back t Th doctor today and he’s sending me for a ct scan of my head n done sum blood tests I broke down crying felt a bit silly but at least will b glad t hav sum tests done xx rozita
