Hi all, I had a radical mastectomy in September, I currently have a normal prosthetic which gives me a great shape and fits my pocketted bras well. My main problem is that the prosthetic does move and pushes its way accross the midline towards my remaining breast. The bra also tends to twist to the side too. I am also a larger lady e/f cup so finding mastectomy bras isn’t the easiest. I have tried normal full cup bras but they dont work and movement is worse.
I had a chat with my BCN who has ordered me an ameona contact prosthetic to try. Just wondering what other ladies experiences were as can only find an old thread.
Thanks in advance xx
Hi hopalong
While you are waiting for some replies to your post, I wondered if you had seen our publication about prostheses. I’ve attached a link for you:

I hope this is helpful.
Very best wishes

Hi Hopalong,
Sorry your tread took a bit of finding. I was given a contact prothesis by my BCN it has changed my life and how I feel about my flat side. It has downsides but I have only got one recon boob so life will never be perfect. It can hurt a bit to pull off and you have to scrub it every night. It is a little large towards my center line.
It feels completely natural. In fact if you lean on my recon boob or my contact prothesis you could not tell the difference. As I have a recon on the otherside my feeling is on the chest wall so to me they feel the same as well. I can walk around the house, bathroom to bedroom without it falling off. By evening it takes a bit of effort to remove. You can wear normal clothes with it and I even sunbathed topless with it, in a quiet corner.
Best of all they are, I understand, all on a 3 month sale or return so you can try. Ameona have a convertion sheet to turn your normal silicone to contact. I am thinking of trying that for my up coming 9 day cycle tour. Last year I used a silicone in a pocket bra but am loathed to give up my contact, but think it might be to hot so with the new sheet it might be the best of both worlds.
Since getting my first bc in 2012 with recon then my 2nd bc with all the treatment I am an committed walker and we have taken up cycling. Both I currently do with the contact on. For swimming I have a dedicated swim form.
I would say Hopalong give the contact a try. I was a little pushed into it by my BCN and thank her every time I see her. Good luck let me know how you get on. NetteW
