continuing with Xeloda

Hi everyone.

Some of ypu may remember that i was hoping to stay on Xeloda after finishing the usual 6 cycles although this was not the norm for my Onc. Anyway she has decided as I have responded well, (reduced Liver function tests and tumor markers , and reduction in number of liver deposits) and also tolerated it well that she will continue indefinately giving it to me as long as it is effective. i am really pleased with this as there seem to be many ladies on this site that have been on it for a number of years. I am to stay on the same dose 1800mg as long as I tolerate it.

I have had a few weeks of as I had a blast of radiotherapy to both hips which seems to be helping. Hoping to reduce my MST dose. Have a bit of a sore bum though which she said is probably due to the radiotherapy.

I have also booked up for a week in Tenerife before I start again so really looking forward to that. (have missed the sunshine this year)

Hi Maddison

Really pleased to hear that your oncologist has decided to keep you on Xeloda. I’m one of those ‘long term’ women as I’ve been on it for two years this month and fingers crossed I continue to keep stable on it.

I also had 3 weeks off at the beginning of the year whilst I had radiotherapy to my spine as my oncologist said it would be too much for my body to cope with both.

Good luck!

Hi Maddison

So glad to hear that you’ve responded well to Xeloda without too many difficult side effects, and that your onc is happy for you to stay on it for as long as it works for you… I’ve been on it now for almost five years, feel pretty good, and am hoping for another “stable” result at my liver ultra-sound scan tomorrow. Enjoy your chemo-break and some sunny weather in Tenerife – like Pinkdove, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of us who have had success with this treatment.

Good luck tomorrow Marilyn! Really hoping your scan result is good - obviously for you but also for all of us other xeloda ladies who are following in your footsteps as it were!

And also really glad to hear that your onc has decided to keep you on xeloda, Maddison. My onc is quite clear that this is the best option. Have a brilliant time in Tenerife - like you I feel I’ve missed out on sunshine this summer! Not sure we can get away now until the spring but hoping to plan a holiday in the sun somewhere then.

You long-term Xeloda users give me hope - if we can get the balance of toxicity under control! I really want it to work.

My wife was on Xeloda for two years, worked very well

Glad that Xeloda is working for you especially at that dosage. I have been on it for over 2 years at a reduce dosage of 1500mg.

Have a great time in Tenerife you deserve it.

Hi again – had my liver ultra-sound scan this afternoon, and still stable – phew! Take heart, Xeloda Queens!!

Really pleased for all you xeloda queens.

Great news, Marilyn! K

Good to hear from you again, Maddison, I’ve been wondering how you are doing. Glad to hear some uplifting news from all you Xeloda ladies, congratulations!
