Welcome to the forum that nobody wants to join but will offer so much support.

I had chemo and was told that the medication I was given should stop me feeling nauseous and if it didn’t I should ring my helpline. They can change to a different one or even a combination.

Having peppermint tea or honey and ginger can be helpful, even ginger biscuits but I found the medication more useful.

As you have started chemo, are you aware of the monthly chemo starters group. I found them really supportive to go through treatment with others on a similar journey.

Here’s the link for March 2025

Take care and hope the nausea settles.

Hi,

I’ve had a number of different types of chemo and found EC the worst one for nausea. As naughty_boob mentioned, there are different anti-nausea drugs that work differently, so it’s definitely worth talking to your team to see if you can try something different. Domperidone and Cyclizine didn’t really work for me (but do work for many other people) and I eventually settled on Ondansetron which was more effective for me personally.

I also found eating small and often helped, and drinking plenty to stay hydrated.

Fresh air is great for nausea - a gentle walk outside if you are up to it, or I used to just stick my head out the window and take some deep breaths.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Take care.
