Good advice Trudy, I did (and still do) the same when it tightens up. Stretching above head when lying down really works for me.

If its still bothering you ask for physio. I am a physio and have cording and went to a specialist physio who is helping me. Two months post op and its improving.

I’m sure I have cording too, I’m about 6 weeks post surgery now.  I regularly do my exercises recommended by the pysio after surgery but the past 2 days I get pulling and a pain on the inside of my lower arm and back of the hand which seems odd.  Not sure if I aggrevated it by carrying shopping back from town.  I can generally reach with that arm as high as my good arm, so I know the exercises have been doing some good.

Hi all, I think I may have cording. It almost feels like I’ve got a piece of elastic on the outer edge of my arm pit and when I stretch it, it feels like it is going to break. I started doing more today around the house etc so I’m wondering if this is why it has also been very painful. Do you think this is cording or just my nerves settling down? I’m 11 days post surgery.

Thank You!

Hi OAD, my husband keeps reminding me what I’ve had done and that I’ve got to give it time. I’m expecting to be like I was pre-op and yesterday so I understand what you’re thinking. However when he reminds me i do see I’m expecting too much too soon and perhaps being too hard in ourselves. I stretch as I’ve been advised but the next time it seems as stiff as before. Also I have read today that true cording is from your armpit down to your elbow, so hopefully ours just needs a bit of time and patience. That’s me giving myself a kick up the bum not you ? xx

I think I was developing cording about 9 days post mastectomy and ANC…a tethered feeling in armpit with every movement. I googled for cording exercises and found reputable site…sherwood forest NHS trust physio cording exercises…did them as well as standard ones and gone in a day! I am in health care so knew what I was doing and that it was safe.
