Core biopsy swelling

Hi, I am newly diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative BC. I have BRCA1 gene and was due for preventative mastectomy on 7 November, so this was all a bit of a shock!

My query is, I had a core biopsy 2 weeks ago, I still feel very sore and the lump feels like it has grown. Can you tell me if you think I could still be swollen after two weeks, or whether the cancer could have grown within this time?

Thanks

Dear Lyn

It sounds as though you could benefit from calling our freephone helpline 0808 800 6000.  It is open 9-5 Monday to Friday and 10-2 Saturday.  They are breast cancer specialists and will be able to help you with your questions.

I am sure it will not be long before you have other forum users replying and offerning support.

Best wishes

Anna

Hi Lyn, I had terrible swelling for a month after core biopsy, I was convinced the lump was growing by the day. Dr advised me this was internal bruising etc. I still had a hard lump when I had my bilateral mx last week.

I had mine about three weeks ago now and it still feels alittle tender and it feels like it has grown. But apparently that’s normal. Xx

My lump does feel bigger after since I had the core biopsy (nearly 2 weeks ago) and it’s still bruised. The nurse told me it would be like that, so I haven’t worried about it. I asked my surgeon the same question about it growing - he said a couple of weeks makes no difference.
